Nearby Hay-on-Wye, claimed to be the largest second hand and antiquarian book-selling centre in the world, is a delightful, self-contained, ancient market town of great individuality and appeal. Its huge variety of shops, including antique shops and galleries, supplies all the needs of its visitors as well as its permanent population. When you want a change from browsing the bookshops you are sure to find a wide variety of other attractions to enjoy in the area: outdoor activities of all kinds including walking, cycling, pony-trekking, canoeing, fishing; touring the Black and White Villages and the wider landscapes of the majestic Wye Valley, nearby Welsh mountains and beautiful Golden Valley. Learn how cider is made in Herefordshire and explore Hereford City with its Norman Cathedral and famous Mappa Mundi, its historic architecture and comprehensive shopping centre. Don’t neglect the beautiful gardens open to visitors including Herefordshire’s own, definitely-not-to-be-missed, Hampton Court. Whatever your interests your time spent here will be memorable.
